Welcome to Arbroath Academy

Welcome to the new Arbroath Academy website! I hope you will find it informative and helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me as Head Teacher with any enquiries or suggestions for improvement. I will respond personally to you as quickly as possible.

As Head Teacher of Arbroath Academy, I am very proud of the achievements of our pupils and staff over the years. At the school’s annual Prize-giving in June, our school community shows its appreciation of pupils who have achieved the highest awards academically and in sport, music, art, etc, in the school and beyond. Equally importantly, we celebrate the efforts that many young people make to overcome personal barriers to learning.

We are now in our final year of the national “Schools of Ambition” initiative. We have been developing confidence among our pupil, parents and staff to believe in themselves, to take on leadership roles and to be ambitious in our achievements. We are developing new ways of teaching & learning and more curriculum choices for our pupils.

Our Integrated Community School Partnership is extending our involvement in the community in our part of Arbroath and offers valuable opportunities for working together.

Our Parent Council is keen to support the school in every way possible and offers a welcome challenge where they feel that improvements can be made. Recently, the Parent Council has influenced developments in homework and extra-curricular sports and is picking up on the recent parental survey.

We also have an active Parent Teacher Association, which raises funds to support the school and organises events, including a 10k road race in the summer term.

Our Parental Involvement Group meets regularly to consider new ideas. They successfully introduced Positive Postcards to let parents know about their children’s successes in class.

As you can see, parents and the community have an important place in our strategy for continuous improvement in Arbroath Academy. There are also similar opportunities for pupils and staff.

I hope that you enjoy exploring our website and I look forward to receiving your feedback.
